...that distant summer...

« Reply #855 on: September 12, 2006, 08:30:38 PM »

Hi everyone,

I'm new so I'm not sure if this topic has been discussed. I purchased the soundtrack which is wonderful. I particularly enjoy hearing the entire songs such as "A Love that Will Never Grow Old" which we only hear a fragment of in the movie.

But I was very disappointed that many of the instrumentals including the exquisite arrangement that is played during the SNIT and the haunting backdrop to the discovery of the shirts were not included Does anyone know where I can get those and others not included? I am particularly interested in getting a CD with the music in the same sequence as it appears in the film.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Page 45 of this thread has links to the rest of the music which can be downloaded as mp3 files. Well worth the effort.

First I want to thank Rodney for his incredible generosity in sharing his music files with me. Ministering Angel, thank you for that tip, but the link posted on page 45 no longer works. It would be great if somone could revive an active one.

Greetings,

Gustavo Santaolalla is going to be part of the New Yorker Festival on October 7 at 10pm. He's having a discussion with Jon Lee Anderson in what's being called a "Conversation with Music" at a New York City dance space. I believe it's $35. Here's a link to the festival page:

http://festival.newyorker.com/schedule_1007_night.cfm

I think it sounds like an interesting event. I hope to see some 'holics there.

Why do we NEVER hear "A Love that Will Never Grow Old" on the radio? What a love song. I'm so glad it was honored. Thanks for posting this Rodney.

Dave has an important announcement about the forum, which he asks all members to read:

http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?topic=18085.msg602098#msg602098

We have set up a thread to discuss the situation. That discussion thread is linked from the post directly below the message from Dave. Follow the above link and you'll get to both.

Thanks

Here’s a question I’ve had for a long time...

At the 4th of July picnic, the band plays “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” If they needed a more up-tempo song than the national anthem, there are others they could have used. Yet they chose a religious war song. Thoughts on why?
